Jacob, Cody, Ben, Chace & Friends Petition for SURGE
These young men setup a booth at a local festival to spread the word about their favorite soda. They gathered signatures for their SaveSURGE.org Local Petition and gave their town a good dose of Soda Activism:

Jacob & SaveSURGE.org Hall of Famer Cody
Every year in May, our town has a weekend long event called the "Party on the Square." Well, this year I decided I'd try to get a SaveSURGE.org petition booth! (So yea, this story is kinda late, but better late then never I guess.) I talked to Cody and Ben, and they both agreed they would be there. Cody and I split on paying the 50 dollers it cost for all Saturday and the half of Sunday.
We printed off the SaveSURGE.org petition, and some flyers for people to take. We went over to Cody's friend's house and printed out a banner sheet by sheet on his laser printer. We put the banner together with tape and pinned it to the table that my mom got where she works. Cody brought his laptop and we played Drew's Save SURGE:The Movie and the SaveSURGE.org 5 year retrospective (the one with music) the whole time.
Early Saturday the festivities begun. There weren't very many people early in the morning, but arount 11:00a.m. people started flooding in. People also started flooding into our booth. A lot of our friend hung out with us, including Chace, who is the one holding the Vault, and also having a SURGE logo taped on his shirt. (He walked around with that on and advertised our booth to people.)
I was there every hour, on the hour except for the very beginning on Saturday, because I had a baseball game. Cody, however wasn't there very much at all on Sunday because of his job at Wendy's. I still had a lot of people sitting at our booth, including as I stated before, Ben who you can see in the trenchcoat.

Ben & Cody
We met many interesting people that weekend, here are some highlights:
An old man who came and signed our petition said:
-"Eh, wahts that say? SURGE? They take it away"
-"Yes"
-"Well those sorry sons a b******, give then a** holes hell for me!"
Another guy had a myth about SURGE I hadn't heard before...
-"Aww SURGE! I loved that stuff let me sign that for ya!...You know where SURGE came from right."
-"Um...Coca-Cola."
-"No, it was a medicine in the 70s and Coca-Cola bought the recipe."
I didn't even correct him...I was kinda shocked as to how he came up with that one.
This other guy from Florida signed it and told me to put in a good word for Crystal Pepsi.
A little old lady talked Coke Blak for about a half-an-hour then left.
A man in his 20s came up..
-"Awesome, SURGE, I drank that by the 2liter every day, that crappy a** Vault doesn't come close to it!" (Well, I didn't comepletly agree with the "crappy a**" part, but the "doesn't come close" part souds right...to me anywho.)
Finally, a lady who worked at a Coke in Kentucky came up.
-"Man, SURGE. I never thought I'd see that again. I worked for Coke in Kentucky durin' the SURGE years. My kids loved it. I hope you can save it."
-"Thanks"
-"Yea the first years it sold like hotcakes, then we changed the logo, and no stores would take it."
-"I think thats why it lost sales, because they changed the ads."
-"NO! That can't be why, we spend years working on marketing, we couldn't have been wrong there, it just failed."
Is it just me, or did her last quote there explain why Coke refuses to bring back SURGE?;)

The funny thing was, Cody wasn't there for any of these cool and hilarious people cause he was at Wendy's.
One thing I did notice is everyone who remembered SURGE who signed the petition thought that Vault wasn't SURGE, and that SURGE needed to come back...finally people who agreed with me!
We ended the weeked with 144 signatures. I did the math and that added up to about 18 signatures an hour. Sure, everything about the petition signing was dwarfed compared to what Debbie & Shirley did in the past, but at least we are showing our wants.
Hey I just realized something, Its almost exactly a year since my first story on here and thet pic of me and Cody at the table is the first any of oyu (except Drew) have seen of me. woh!
I haven't been able to get to my bottler to drop off the petition, but I'll update you all as soon as I do!
You guys are the best! Thanks for your SODA ACTIVISM!!!
