For the Love of SURGE

Jacob H. and Cody Fight for SURGE!
Our friends Jacob H. and SaveSURGE.org Hall of Famer Cody Hauri decided to take their love of SURGE to the streets outside their local bottler. After the protest, they made a startling discovery!

On Thursday, March 29th, I, along with Cody went to Richmond IN to protest the discontinuation of SURGE, and to ask directly for more Fanta flavors. (we only have Orange, Grape, and Orange Zero)

Anyway, we went there and asked if we could have a "peaceful rally" in Cody's words. The lady said she was amazed at our dedication to a soda and how "SURGED up" we were. She went to the back and got the manager and she was very nice, and said we had to go out on the street, but could go right outside the building.

We got many beeps, and thumbs up...but at the same rate we got confused faces and one guy who waved his arms up and down in a crazy formation.(like he was making fun of us by acting like he was retarded...I don't know)

After about 2 hours it was time to go, but before we left Richmond we stopped by 40Bowl, a bowling alley that had a SURGE sticker on a fountain, but it served Coke. It's a beautiful sight though. The fountain also has Vault, so SURGE and Vault live side-by-side in Richmond Indiana...sort of.

Well, I had already been there before, to see it myself. My mom has known this Coke guy for years and he promised he'd inform me about ANY SURGE stuff he found. The sticker was one of them.

Back to March 29. Two ladies who work for Coke and saw us at the bottler, spotted us taking pictures of the fountain. They asked us about SaveSURGE.org (I was wearing one of the SaveSURGE.org hoodies that Ben Friend gave me)

I explained to them the goal of the sight and about all the dedicated, awesome fans on the sight. One of the ladies asked why we were so dedicated to a soda. All I could say was, "It was our favorite soda, and now its gone, thats pretty much it."

Then the greatest moment of the day happened...A guy behind the desk told us: "SURGE? I remember SURGE! I loved that soda! In fact I still have a few bottle left at my house." "How'd you get it?" one of the Coke ladies asked "Well, when Coke switched to Vault, I pulled all the old SURGE crates in the back out, and took them home. I really didn't want to sell it, so now I drink it all the time."

That means that bowling alley sold SURGE in bottles until Vault came out!!!! DARN IT!!!! A year too late.

We asked if he'd be willing to sell it and he said he loved it too much to sell it.

The Coke lady asked if I had any SURGE, and I told her I've spent $110 and I got a sealed 1st gen bottle for $30, two sealed 2nd gen cans from Tek on the Message Boards for $20, and $60 on 4 sealed 2nd cans and a 1st gen fountain sticker."

She almost fainted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Well, I guess when you need it, ya have to get it somehow."

That was one of the GREATEST SURGE related days EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great work guys!
