SaveSURGE News

Hello once again to all friends of SURGE and welcome to the 29th edition of SaveSURGE News. Serving you virtual cups of that sweet green goodness, everyday!

This is a very special edition of our newsletter. We have some big news to report, so we won't keep you waiting any longer! Oh, but first, check out our Sightings report:

Seeing SURGE
-----------------------
There have been 4 new SURGE Sightings since the last edition of SaveSURGE News. They are in: FL (2), GA & TX.

Unfortunately, there has been one deletion in Titusville, FL.

Overall, there are currently 135 SURGE Sightings listed. Thanks to all you who look for SURGE wherever you go!

The Big News
---------------------
Well, you've waited patiently and now the announcement: SaveSURGE.org was mentioned in the 11/01/02 edition of the world-famous Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper! Reporter Scott Leith covers Coca-Cola for the AJC and wrote a small article about the best little SURGE site in the world. You can read the article at the AJC's website:
http://www.accessatlanta.com/ajc/business/coke/1102/01surge.html

We are absolutely thrilled to be mentioned in such a respected news source and most importantly, the plight of SURGE is getting some much-deserved attention! An article about our favorite fully loaded citrus soda appearing in Coca-Cola's hometown newspaper is bound to make an impact.

One thing mentioned in the article that we must clear up is that the SaveSURGE petition was actually started by our good friend, Timb the Enchanter (visit him at http://www.enchantogen.com/ ). Timb, along with Marcus from www.misinformer.com were the first two people to contribute to SaveSURGE.org, so many props need to go out to them! Amen.

Love, Love, Love
------------------------
Now, it's time to talk about a couple of great additions to our For the Love of SURGE section.

First, Will submitted a photo of his very rare and unusual piece of SURGE memorabilia. It's an inflatable SURGE can, which uses the old-school logo and stands about 30 inches tall. Definitely worth checking out!

Then, we heard from Danielle, who was kind enough to share her recipe for home made SURGE. As you might recall, we listed a recipe from Ed a few months back. It would be quite interesting to try both recipes and see which one works best.

Bottler of the Week
-----------------------------
Get out those stamps and envelopes, it's time for the SaveSURGE.org Bottler of the Week! As you know, each week we pick a new Coca-Cola bottler for you to contact and let them know that we want SURGE back on every shelf in every store in the USA.

This week, the honor goes to that place we affectionately refer to as "Music City". That's right, it's Nashville, TN! Here's their contact info:

Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated
1900 Rexford Rd.
Charlotte, NC 28211

For your convenience we've provided a form letter that you can just print, sign and mail on our How You Can Help page.

Would you like your local Coca-Cola bottler to be the next SaveSURGE.org Bottler of the Week? If so, e-mail us your name, hometown, zip code and any bottler information you might have (it's ok if you don't know who your bottler is, we should be able to locate it for you) to us at: surge@savesurge.org

That's all the time we have for this week. Avery & I would like to thank all of you because, hey, without you, there would be no SaveSURGE.org!

Have a great week everybody!

Sincerely,

Eric Karkovack
