Good times with SURGE. It seems like
everybody has great memories of how the best times of their life
were made even better just by having a SURGE close by. Matt recently
wrote to us with his story:
Back in my senior year of high school (1999)
some friends and I drank Surge more than anything else. Three
of us were part of the lighting crew for many of the plays the
school put on. For every practice we'd have at least 2 2-liters
of surge per person on hand (often much much more). We'd have
to restock every practice, if not sooner. We kept all these two-liters.
When the time came (with the help of some duct tape) we taped
them all together, making a giant Surge Chain. It was beautiful.
All in all the chain must contained at least 150 empty bottles.
We took some pictures, but sadly have not been able to find them,
nor the chain (/me crying....) .....In addition to stuff like
this, we'd pour surge into champagne glasses and drop a lil dry
ice in it, so it gave the surge a kewl fog filling the rest of
the glass, not to mention keeping the surge extra carbonated and
cold. We were feeling classy. We've been surge fans ever since
the first drop. Upon realization coke was discontinuing surge,
I put forth the effort to buy out 5 local stores of all the surge
they had. Sadly only one 12-pack, and a few rogue cans still remain
today...I refuse to open the 12-pack, as much as I dearly want
to.
Also at work someone brought in this new things
from 7-Up, call DNL, or upside down 7-up...its close to surge.....green,
citrus, but lacks that kick surge had. After trying the first
can I noticed a comments/suggestion phone number, so I decided
to call. They asked me what I thought I said, "Not too bad...but
its not SURGE, and tried to explain to them what I felt it lacked.
I concluded the call by thanking them for making a product that
resembled Surge....its like my 12 step program through Surge withdrawl.
Till the day Surge comes back.....then Im giving up beer....for
surge....(might toss in some vodka so I can still get drunk every
now and then).
Well I think Ive rambled enough. I hope this
story (ies), have entertained
you a lil. And if we find those pictures, we shall post them to
you asap.
thx again,
Matt
