For the Love of SURGE

K.C. Cool had SURGE @ School

SURGE holds a special meaning in many people's lives. K.C. Cool was kind enough to share the story of a very special day in his life when SURGE came to his school. Rock on, K.C.!

Hey Surge addicts web people n stuff!

Once upon a time in the 7th grade in the Spring of '99, I heard word about some activity that school was letting out class periods for. They said it was something about sodas or whatever and were passing outs cans and prizes. Later that day, 7th period was called off for 6th and 7th graders to go out to the front of the school to check out this activity.

When I finally got there, there was a crowd of students around the parking lot. There also were a few guys wearing Surge shirts with a bullhorn that also beared the Surge logo. I looked past the crowd and spotted a Surge truck (or van, I can't remember) that had a huge cooler behind it FILLED with SURGE and ice!

School classes called off for a Surge Party? Okay... That's FREAKIN COOL!!

I can't remember whether they were having some contest or somthin, but the Surge guys were yelling n stuff getting the crowd pumped. Also, they were passing out t-shirts, hats, and Surge cans. Since I arrived late and was at the rear of the crowd, all I knew was: I wasn't getting ANY of my free Surge... That makes a person a lil mad.

So I walked around the crowd toward the Surge truck, you know, the one with a tank full of Surge. By this time they only gave away about 15 cans of goodness, which was weird because they had over 50 cans of it in the tank. Sooo I figured they wouldn't mind if I grabbed a few! By this time the last bell already rang and the "Car-Riders" rides were already in line in the parking lot. This meant that some people left for the busses and more people came to the front of the school. As I grabbed 3 cans, one of the Surge guys spots me and says "Hey man, don't do that!" So I kinda backed off, but I immediately saw that the Surge guy realized that this par-tay... was ova. So with me RIGHT infront of the tank, the guy screams "SURGE!!!!" and freakin DUMPS the whole tank on the parking lot!!! With Surge cans and ice running between my legs, I grasp my balance and immediately start reaching for Surge cans! There was a pause in the crowd, then the crap hit the fan... People surround me, viciously grabbing cans off the asphalt (who could blame 'em!?)! By that time I had more than 10 cans shoved in the base of my curled up shirt. I kept grabbing and grabbing, reaching for one to the next. By the time my shirt was filled and about to rip, I spotted my ride and decided to evac. I ran up to the car, opened the back door, and unloaded all 20 somthin of the cans in the back seat. I closed the door and hopped in the front and smiled... Then I noticed my good shirt was ruined...

That was quite possibly the best day of 7th grade I had. The soda lasted about, ooohh, a good week and a half. After that, many cans and bottles made me stop, smile, and remind me of that day. The taste of Surge also brings back memories of my kewl years in middle school... I wish I could be reminded more often... (aka I WANT MY FREAKIN SURGE BACK!!! :))

Surge cannot get any better. Except when it's free and is passed out during school hours! I'm curious to find out if anyone else had a similar Surge thing happen at school or work or whateva. So tell the fine people at this fine site! OR lemme know at KC-Cool@Carolina.rr.com or hop on AIM and throw in KCCoolMCSF as my SN.
