Tim Kelly

7 Question Interview with Tim Kelly
Tim Kelly is one of the most creative and dedicated SURGE fans out there. As of this writing, Tim is filming a documentary about his beloved SURGE, entitled "Surgical Mystery Tour". He's an avid collector of SURGE memorabilia and a great contributor to this website. And now, he can add SaveSURGE.org Hall of Famer to his resume! He spoke with us about being inducted and, of course, SURGE:

1. How does it feel to be recognized in a Hall of Fame?
I'm honored!

2. How has SURGE changed your life?
Ever since my first can of Surge in 1997, I've been addicted. I started mentioning it in my comics, and incorporating it into my home movies, which led to part of the inspiration for "Surgical Mystery Tour."

3. If Coca-Cola asked you why SURGE should be brought back, what would you say to them?
I would say because it's the most delicious soda I've ever tasted in my entire life. dnL is a great substitute, but I'm only drinking it because Surge is almost impossible to find!

4. Do you have a favorite SURGE-related memory?
My brother worked in the same movie theater that I'd worked in ten years earlier. One day, he brought over an empty Surge cup from the theater. Now, this has the rare logo on it, the one I call the "transitional" logo (see the hockey game for what I'm talking about), plus my bro scored it for me, so it means a lot. I know, it didn't cost him anything! Well, maybe they charged him a quarter (Laughs).

5. What gives you hope that SURGE will be brought back?
The most vile beverage I have ever put in my mouth, the one drink I spit in the sink, the soda that brought the idea of suicide-by-licking-the-bottom-of-a-car to mind... TAB!!! If that horrid poison can be brought back, then anything is possible.

6. How would you describe the taste of SURGE compared to other citrus sodas (Mountain Dew, Squirt, Mello Yello, etc.)? Describe what makes SURGE so unique.
Mountain Dew isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's a little too watery-sweet for my tastes. I don't know, just something about it. Candles and crayons come to mind. Squirt makes me think of chalk and detergent. Mello Yello would have to be the best of the three. I've downed a lot of that at the local Chuck E. Cheese's, but none of them have the flavor of Surge. It's the best of all.

7. Lastly, why do you think you are being inducted into the SaveSURGE.org
Hall of Fame?

Probably because I can't stop buying Surge memorabilia off ebay! (Laughs) Oh, and the aforementioned film, which I hope to have out late fall/early winter.
