Criteria Hall of Famers Nominations SaveSURGE.org

Shirley

6 Question Interview with Shirley
If you want to see the true spirit and dedication of our community, look no further than Shirley. Along with fellow SaveSURGE.org Hall of Famer, Debbie, she spent hundreds of dollars for a booth (and banner) at the 2005 Country Thunder USA festival held 4/14-17/05 in Florence, AZ. She spent four days in the hot Arizona sun spreading the word about SURGE and collecting over 1,000 signatures for a SaveSURGE.org Local Petition. Now that's dedication! We sat down with Shirley to discuss her efforts and her induction into the Hall:

1. What's the best part about being in the SaveSURGE.org Hall of Fame?
To show all fans how much I love and miss SURGE.......And to show those "COKE" people that visit our site the same. I would do anything to get it back.

2. What makes SURGE your favorite soda?
The taste, it is thee best......a mild Citrus Squirt kinda taste in my opinion, a taste of it's own.

3. What was the most memorable moment during your time running the Save SURGE booth at Country Thunder USA?
Seeing people far away, reading our banner, running saying OMG, SURGE, do you have a sample, Hell yeah, I'll sign, we need it back!

4. What do you think your efforts at Country Thunder mean to Coca-Cola?
I think they will be surprised, but in the same breath they will sit back and see what will develop. Do you feel like they truly appreciate you as a SURGE fan? No, cause if they did, SURGE would be on the counters, or as stated in the AP article from a COKE rep...."Coke's Web site makes little mention of Surge and a customer-service operator said it is discontinued, although Williamson said the company still makes the syrup." We would have fountain SURGE at least!

5. If you could give one piece of advice to a fellow SURGE fan who wants to run a booth similar to yours, what would you tell them?
Do not get an attitude when the first person tells you NO, they won't sign.........I did! :O)

6. Describe how you felt when you realized that SURGE was no longer available in bottles and cans.
My Mom came home and said, Hey Diary Queen has SURGE in their Fountain Machine up on Second Street, I know every name of every employee who worked second shift at the ice cream shop........but knowing no more 12-packs for work or 2-liters, was a bummer, I kept feeling like when I left for work I was forgetting something.
